ADDRESS BY H.E. CHARIS E. MARGARETHA OBETSEBI-LAMPTEY ZWENNES,
AMBASSADOR OF GHANA TO THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA,
ON THE OCCASION OF THE 67 TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY OF GHANA
———————————————————————————————————————————————————
On behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Government, the
staff of the Ghana Embassy in South Korea, its staff, and on my own behalf,
I would like to wish you a very Happy Independence Anniversary.
This year, our Independence Day celebration is under the theme, “Our Democracy, Our Pride.”.
It is a theme that resonates the sacrifices made by generations past,
who fought tirelessly for self-determination and the right to shape our own destiny.
It is a theme that celebrates the resilience of our country, weathering countless storms and emerging stronger each time.
And most importantly, it is a theme that calls upon us, both within Ghana and abroad,
to actively participate in nurturing and safeguarding our hard-won democracy.
Here in the Republic of Korea, a land with its own rich history of struggle and triumph, this theme finds particular resonance.
Just as this country fought for its own independence and built a vibrant democracy, so too have we embarked on a similar journey.
And it is through understanding and sharing our respective experiences that w
e can learn from each other and strengthen our commitment to democracy on a global scale.
Dear Citizens, Sons and Daughters of our Motherland,
As Ghanaians living and studying in Korea, your contribution to our collective journey is vital.
You are ambassadors of our democratic values, showcasing its strengths and fostering understanding with other countries.
Your engagement plays a crucial role in our nation’s progress, and you represent influential
advocates for Ghana’s attractiveness as a welcoming and prosperous nation.
Therefore, on this significant occasion, let us renew our dedication to the principles of “Our Democracy, Our Pride.”;
Let us embrace the legacy of unity and development that our ancestors bequeathed to us.
Let us forge ahead in creating a Ghana that continues to stand as a symbol of peace, prosperity,
and hope for every citizen, our continent and the rest of the world.
God bless Ghana!
